Gusan Ashot was born in 1907 in Goris. He started the career of gusan in 1928 with the songs «I am a gusan», «Burning love».
His every single melody (he is the author of both music and words) became dear and close to people that found themselves in those sincere, gusanic, profound, epical, old and renovated forms of music such as «O, mountains», «Colden mountains, blue mountains», «Mountains in Sjunik», «Deer», «Spring-monument», «Mountain beauty of my beloved», «Darling, what am I without you…?», «My love in the monastry Tatev».
He died in Yerevan in 1986.
His tomb is in Goris on the high mountains. Gusan Ashot’s creative work embraces three ages, and to make a whole opinion about his talent it is worth to say that, during the last year of his life, he created more than 100 melodies not being performed yet.
The collection of his creations in 4 volumes had been published, but unfortunately they are now lost.
