 Alan Hovhannes
Composer (1911-2000)
He was born in 1911 in Somerwil (Massachusetts), died in 2000.
He appeared in the music arena with his first symphony performing under the leadership of Lesli Harward in 1939.
From 1940 until 1947 he created 7 symphonies, 5 string quartets, choruses, instrumental pieces. He was the organist of the Armenian church in Watertown. His relation towards the fascinating Armenian sacred music made an opportunity to create his VIII symphony (1947).
